Discovering Horne
Camp Horne
In dedication to the Joseph Horne Company employees, the company made a camp so that the employees could relax and enjoy many different activities that occured at the park. Some of the facilities at the park included a Mess Hall (which is Miller Hall today), a recreational Pavilion, a swimming pool, a putting golf course and many more. Life at the camp was relaxing and fun. During the summer time, the biggest event was the annual Picnic Day. Families would bring their own picnic baskets, enjoy their lunch and later on enjoyed many different activities for each age group.
Joseph Horne Company
Last, but not least, these photos where taken when the Joseph Horne Company was still around. Horne's, short for the Joseph Horne Company, was located in many different malls throughout Pennsylvania. During the time, most of these photos were seen in ads as well as postcards. The warehouse for the deparment store was located not to far out of town.
Avonworth Community Park
Avonworth Community Park is located on Camp Horne Road. For the fun part, you'll be able to get a glimpse of the pieces of artwork that will be in my solo show. From time to time, each piece of work will become more precise and will show interesting photographs that are similar in style to the original photographs that were taken from when it was a camp.
